The Heritage Passport:
Canadian Citizenship by Descent

Canadian Citizenship by Descent Service

Reclaiming your Canadian heritage requires more than just a family story, it requires a precise "paper trail" that meets the strict evidentiary standards of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This service is specifically designed to help you identify, locate, and organize the vital records needed to prove your claim to citizenship.

Step 1 – Eligibility Assessment & Record Audit

Under Bill C-3, individuals born abroad before December 15, 2025, may now be automatically recognized as citizens if they have a direct Canadian ancestor (someone born or naturalized in Canada). We audit your family tree to determine if you are part of this newly eligible "lost" generation and identify the specific records required to prove your chain of descent.

Step 2 – The Proof of Citizenship Portfolio

We compile a professional evidence package designed for a "Proof of Citizenship" (Citizenship Certificate) application. This includes:

  • Vital Records: Birth, marriage, and death certificates linking you to your Canadian ancestor.
  • Status Documentation: Records proving your ancestor’s Canadian status at the time of the next generation's birth.
  • Archival Research: Deep-dive searches into Canadian national and provincial archives for "Lost Canadians" whose records may be difficult to locate.

Important Legal Note: Connect-Your-Dots provides genealogical research and record retrieval services to assist in gathering evidence. We are not immigration lawyers or Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and do not provide legal advice or represent clients in the application process.

The elusive dot

Elusive_Dot

Discover the elusive ancestor everyone else gave up on. Our investigation is designed for the toughest family history mysteries, the ancestor who disappear from records, hide behind name changes, or seem to appear out of nowhere.

Step 1 - Evaluate Your Research

We begin by reviewing everything you already know. This includes your family tree, previous research, DNA matches, family stories, and any documents you may have. From there, we identify gaps, verify existing evidence, and create a focused research plan.

Step 2 - Conduct Deep Historical Research

We carry out a professional genealogical search using advanced research methods.  This includes exploring records such as probate files, land deeds, court records, newspapers, church registers, immigration records, and local archives.

Step 3 - professional research report

You receive a professional research report with documented findings, full source citations, copies of important records, and clear explanations of discoveries, along with recommendations for the next steps in your family history.
